Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission within the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was established during the 2018 legislative session. The legislation represents a comprehensive approach to identifying and addressing issues presented by the tragedy that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program

Department of Education

The Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program was established in 2018 through the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. Guardians are either school employees who volunteer to serve in addition to official job duties or hired personnel.

Department of Juvenile Justice, Its No Joke Campaign

Department of Juvenile Justice

The #ItsNoJoke awareness campaign is aimed at addressing school threats made by students in Florida, as these threats can result in felony charges. The campaign further seeks to educate youth and parents that threats of violence include statements made anywhere online. Making threats, even if it is in jest, can have serious consequences.
